Afu-Mena Group is an international business group rooted in the rainforest of East Suriname and the Maroon culture of the Pamaka. From Suriname, French Guiana and the Netherlands we build trade, responsible mining, knowledge and culture.
Our name
Afu-Mena means “Cherish what you have”
In Pamaka, a Maroon language of Suriname and French Guiana, Afu-Mena carries an attitude to life: value what you already hold — your land, your knowledge, your family, your culture — and develop it with care. That attitude is the group's business model. We build companies that add value in the region where they operate, with respect for people, heritage and nature.

Maroon heritage
From the forest to the world
The Maroons of East Suriname built a world of their own in the rainforest: their own language, their own law, their own art. Tembe woodcarving and textile art hold a language of forms — interlocking curves and angular symmetry expressing connection, protection and transmission.
Afu-Mena Group carries that inheritance not as decoration, but as a starting point. Cherishing and developing what is already there: land, craft, knowledge and community. That is why the group invests in culture alongside trade and mining.
