Two companion collections by Margo Morrison with spirituality at their heart. They contain poems, stories and travel accounts, partly based on the experiences of others and partly on the author's own. Boodschappen uit het Hiernamaals (Messages from the Hereafter), her eighth collection, is about contact with the other side of life: messages from the deceased that reach their loved ones in special ways, somewhere between dream and reality. Those who receive them find comfort that helps them carry their grief. De Cyclus van het Leven (The Cycle of Life), her ninth collection and the ‘twin’ of the first, follows the stages of life, from ‘death at birth’ to ‘living again after death’. In search of messages from the ancestors, the author returns to her roots in Ghana during ‘The Year of Return’ in 2019. Both books are written in Dutch, at times with a Surinamese translation.
