Coconut oil has been used for thousands of years by peoples in and around Suriname. The oil is pressed from copra, the dried white flesh of the coconut. Our Kokonto Fatu is made the traditional Maroon way by villagers in the interior of Suriname. They also make the oil for their own use, just as their parents and grandparents did. The oil has a mild coconut scent and sets in a cool room. Use it in the kitchen, and as Maroon families have long done, for skin and hair care.
