Our sweet cassava bread is a firm, handmade flatbread of grated sweet cassava. The cassava is pressed, kneaded into a flat disc of about 30 to 40 centimetres and baked over a traditional wood fire. This gives a rich flavour and a unique, grainy texture. The bread is hard and crisp and breaks into pieces. For the Maroons cassava bread is a regular part of the meal. Eat it with soup, fish or meat, or simply as a snack. The bread contains no wheat.
