Podosiri, better known elsewhere as açaí, is the small purple-blue fruit of the açaí palm (Euterpe oleracea). In Suriname the palm is also called pinapalm. The berries grow in large bunches high up in the palm and are harvested by hand. In Suriname and Brazil podosiri has been eaten for generations, mostly as fresh pulp. The fruit is soaked and rubbed into a thick, dark purple purée with an earthy, slightly nutty taste. For Maroon families podosiri is part of everyday food. It is eaten plain, with a little sugar, or with kwaka as a filling breakfast or dessert. This 1000 ml pack is handy for the whole family.
Use and preparation
Enjoy plain or with a little sugar. Also great with kwaka for breakfast or dessert.
